A LUCKY Sheffield bingo winner has scooped a credit crunch-busting £174,367 - and the rest of the club will share £165,352.
The 45-year-old Stannington woman is looking forward to a very merry Christmas after her 'High 5' jackpot win at Gala Bingo on Halifax Road.
The remaining £165,352 will be shared among Sheffield Wadsley's 110-strong bingo sites community.
The winner said: "It's a wonderful feeling! The club was in uproar. Everyone was thanking me and there were some lovely personal stories.
"A lady came up to me in the toilets and said 'you've really made my Christmas' - that just says it all. I'm still in shock.
"It was quite funny because we were late getting to the club and just before I closed the door my sister shouted don't forget your High 5! It is incredible to have won such a large sum of money. I'll never forget this."
The enormous win follows the introduction of Gala Bingo's new High 5 game which offers groups the chance to win the jackpot.
Gala Bingo Sheffield Wadsley's deputy manager Russell Coggan said: "It was amazing. Everyone was really charged up, it was electric.
"And 110 customers in the local area picked up £1,503 just before Christmas - especially with times being what they are it really means something to these people."

Bingo hits jackpot for six charities
The cry of "Bingo!" in Long Sutton has helped raise £6,500 for good causes.
Sutton Bridge and Long Sutton fundraisers hold popular bingo sessions each Thursday and Saturday evening at Long Sutton Church Hall, the proceeds from which are given to various organisations at the end of the year.
Cheques for £1,000 were given to Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance; St Mary's Church in Long Sutton; Long Sutton and Sutton Bridge Medical Centre; the Pilgrim Hospital in Boston; and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn.
The Friends of North Cambridgeshire Hospital was given £500.
A number of people help organise the regular sessions to play bingo, whether by fetching prizes or driving bingo players to and from sessions.
But the main driving force behind fundraising is Hazel Phillippo, who has been running the bingo evenings for a number of years.
She said: "The bingo sessions give many people a night out and a chance to meet friends and acquaintances. The fact that we can raise money and give good donations to excellent organisations is an added bonus."
Sutton Bridge councillor Chris Brewis said: "Many people do a bit to keep the bingos running but without Hazel the whole thing would come to a full stop."

2009 - the year that bingo is set to go mobile
In times of an economic slump where casinos and play live bingo are feeling the pinch and not always getting the numbers through the door, it makes sense to look around for other ways to reach players both old and new. This became apparent in London last week at the 5th Annual Mobile Gambling Summit for Europe.
The big bingo players
This event saw representatives from most of the big casinos and mobile providers meet to discuss how viable it would be to put versions of online bingo and casino games straight onto new mobiles.
This strategy means that the next time you upgrade your phone in 2009 you'll have access to your favourite game and maybe even your chosen bingo site without any effort at all.
Betting on the go
Speaking at the Summit, co-founder of Mfuse, Charles Palmer posited that since there has been a total of £100 million made in bets over mobiles in the last year, the trend of players turning to alternative means of play in the light of casino and bingo hall closure is set to continue.
With representatives from all the major UK mobile providers present at the summit, it is likely that we will see an explosion of new software competing in the mobile world next year.
What’s in the bingo crystal ball?
Of course, there are some bingo sites that have experimented with putting their games on mobiles already, but it will be interesting to see what the providers come up with if bingo is to become a standard feature on new phones. We look forward to experimenting with the new formats next year and look forward to hearing your reviews of the new games.
